Arth
Considered as one of Mahesh Bhatt’s finest works, Arth revolves around the life of a heartbroken wife, her unfaithful husband and his neurotic girlfriend. Starring Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Kulbhushan Karbanda, the blockbuster family entertainer chronicles the story of a filmmaker who leaves his wife, as he falls in love with an actor. Arth is considered one of its kind, as it features two of Hindi cinema's biggest personalities -- Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil. Arth garnered humongous success across the country, as it was made at a time when the concept of extra-marital affairs was considered culturally out of boundaries.

Saaransh
Directed and written by Mahesh Bhatt, Saaransh is hailed as a landmark film in the history of Indian cinema. The emotional drama is also marked as the debut of Anupam Kher in Bollywood. Starring Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi and Soni Razdan in the leading roles, the movie chronicles the story of an old couple and their struggles in life, after the death of their only son. Saaransh features Anupam Kher in a different avatar, as the then 28-year-old actor is seen essaying the character of a septuagenarian.

The story of Sadak revolves around the life of a taxi driver who falls in love with a prostitute and later, fights with her brothel owner.
