Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt on Sunday joined a protest meet here against amended Citizenship Act, and said it is time people unite to send across a mess that country belongs to everyone. protest meet was held at 'Rajgruha', house of Dr B R Ambedkar in Mumbai, where Bhatt was joined by Congress leader Sanjay Jha, among ors. "It's time for people to stand up and say this country belongs to each one of us and it is might and will of each one of us that has finally found an expression...," Bhatt said, addressing a garing.

"That curve hascome, India has spoken this Sunday morning. All of you garing here is an evidence that core, soul of India is alive," he said. "Today we dedicate ourselves to core idea of India which has been spelt out by our predecessors in this sacred document which we all swear and live by," filmmaker added. Preamble to Constitution of India was read out by those present at protest meet. contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) was approved by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha recently, and became an Act after President Ram Nath Kovind gave assent to it on Thursday night.

Protests against CAB

Meanwhile, tough security measures continue at Aligarh Muslim University as a precautionary measure amid student protest against amended Citizenship Act. Violent protests continue in Kolkata and several parts of Assam - which is epicenter of protests. While two persons were killed in police firing in state on Thursday, tens of thousands of protesters against CAB descended on streets of Assam on Wednesday, clashing with police, with a large number of protestors detained by police in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, etc.
