Mandira Bedi talks about delaying pregnancy, says she was 'looked at differently'

Mandira Bedi who is currently hosting MX Player's reality show Shaadi Fit revealed that she was 'looked at differently' when she decided to delay her pregnancy because of work commitments. According to a news agency, Mandira said that people called her 'career-oriented' when she made the most 'difficult decision' of her life to not have a child because of work. For those unaware, Mandira Bedi is married to filmmaker Raj Kaushal and is a proud mother to son Vir (2011).

"You would think that is a good trait to have, but our society thinks differently of a married woman. In fact, even after my child was born, I was always divided between my personal and professional lives," Bedi was quoted by the news agency. Mandira also said that her husband has supported her throughout and he takes care of their son so that she can go to the shoots.

The actress concluded with a strong message to every married women. She urged them to believe in their capabilities rather than 'focusing on societal beliefs and norms'. "My career has made me into the person I am today. I have struggled and carved my niche in the entertainment industry and I feel very proud of it," Bedi said.

Actor and host Mandira Bedi was last seen as an antagonist in the much-anticipated Prabhas-starrer "Saaho". The 45-year-old was seen doing some action stunts in the film. "The one woman amongst a gang of negative characters. But someone who holds her own in a world of men." said Mandira. The actor, whose career spans for over 21 years in the industry, catapulted to fame as the protagonist in 1990's TV show "Shanti" and went on to appear in films such as "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" and "Shaadi Ka Laddoo".

Mandira also appeared in "Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" and started off another inning on the small screen as the host for ICC Cricket World Cups (2003, 2007), the Champions Trophies (2004, 2006) and the Indian Premier League season two.
