Manoj Bajpayee: Desperation not part of my personality

It took Maj Bajpayee a while to enter ever-growing digital , considered to be a boon for storytellers today, and actor says desperation to get viewership by serving overdose of 'violence and sex' kept him away from web world. 50-year-old actor, who is making his digital debut with Amazon Prime Video's ' Family Man', said he always wanted to start with a unique concept which h 'integrity' in its narrative.

"I realized, re is a pattern that most of shows we're following. re was a pattern that was forming in front of me and that was quite scary. All shows, matter how different story was, y were trying to please audience desperately and were trying to grab eyeballs by showing too much violence and sex," Maj Bajpayee told PTI in an interview.

"I realized, right w, since this medium is at an infant st and also y (makers) don't kw what to do with this freedom, I was sure I was t going to be part of this desperation. I wanted to be part of something that was very unique and something that is t compromising and still having its integrity intact in terms of its narrative," actor ded. 

critically-acclaimed performer said Maj Bajpayee was trying to 'run away from that clutter' and asserted he is t against violence and sex if y are essential to story.

"It is all about staying true to story. For me, that is very important. I am t averse to intimate sequence or showing violence. I am averse to banning anything in life. But being desperate to get some eyeballs is something that I do t like. That desperation is t even re in my personality. ' Family Man' goes very well with as a creative person for me," Maj Bajpayee ded.

' Family Man' is an action-drama series that tells story of a middle-class man who works for a special cell of National Investigation ncy (NIA). While he tries to protect nation from terrorists, he also has to protect his family from impact of his secretive, high-pressure, and low paying job.

Bajpayee has me a mark for himself as one of most versatile performers in Hindi film industry and actor said switching between mediums is t a struggle.

"Your acting will never change. You will always be an actor matter which platform you are acting on. It gives you freedom in terms of length, in cinema, it is about two-and-half-hours of time frame," Maj Bajpayee said.

"re is chance of being indulgent or re is opportunity to explore your character in great detail in cinema, matter how great character is. But in a web-series, re is time to explore so many or facets of a character and scenes and that is so flattering for an actor like me," he ded. 

National Award-winner ded all he craves for is creative satisfaction and exploring new dimensions as a performer.

"An actors job is t to look at platform. If web platform is giving you an opportunity to explore new dimension as a performer and giving you freedom to work on your skill you should do it. I have done short films because of that despite y t paying a single penny but I have done that," Maj Bajpayee stated furr. 

' Family Man' will premiere on September 20.
