Rani Mukerji, is set to make a return in her cop avatar. Mardaani 2, the sequel to the 2014 Bollywood hit movie Mardaani, is slated for a release later this year. Ever since the announcement of Mardaani 2 back in 2018, it has been making rounds in the news. Right from the commencement of the shooting schedule, to the increase of security to prevent inside secrets to leak from the sets; the movie has managed to gather curiosity among the audiences. Recently the entire team wrapped up the shoots for the film, and on the last day of the Rajasthan shoot, Rani Mukerji received an incredibly special gift.

Rani receives a gift from the Art director of Mardaani 2

On the final day of the Rajasthan shoot for Mardaani 2, the art director of the movie Babu Saini, gifted her a portrait of her character in the film Shivani Shivaji Roy. Rani Mukerji was overwhelmed on receiving the gift and said that she would display the picture in her house. Babu Saini began working with Rani for the first time in the 1998 movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and have collaborated for many projects since then. Babu Saini is an admirer of the Mardaani actor, Rani Mukerji and her work, and they both have many fond memories of working together.

After the completion of the Rajasthan schedule for the movie, the team was busy shooting for the rest of the sequences in Mumbai. Rani Mukerji posed with the entire team of Mardaani 2 on the last day of their schedule. In a picture shared by Yash Raj Films on Twitter, Rani Mukerji is seen surrounded by the crew of Mardaani 2, who are wearing customised T-shirts with the name of the film printed on them. The actor was seen posing with a victory sign.

Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani was released on August 22, 2014. After five years, Rani Mukerji reprises her role of the cop Shivaji Shivani Roy, in Mardaani 2. In the first movie, Rani’s character was seen fighting social evils like Human Trafficking and child trafficking. For the second movie, Shivaji Shivani Roy, the villainous cop is all set for a fight against a serial killer, who rapes and murders young women. The film has been scheduled to release on December 13. Mardaani 2 has been written and directed by Gopi Purthan and also stars Jishu Sengupta.
