Mardaani 2: Rani Mukerji to reprise her role as Shivani once again

Everyone remembers the power-packed performance delivered by Rani Mukerji in Mardaani which released five years back. Rani as police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy was seen investigating a human trafficking racket. This Navratri, Yash Raj Films have released a teaser announcing the return of the fearless Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2. Mardaani 2 marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran who had written the script for the 2014 film. The movie is expected to release on December 13 this year.  The caption on the post reads “This Navratri, good will triumph over evil.”

The teaser of Mardaani 2 is 38-seconds long. It begins with Rani Mukerji leading a team of police officers entering a building. Rani is next seen beating a man with a belt and her voiceover says “Ab tu kisi ladki ko haath laga ke dikha, tujhe itna maarungi ki teri twacha se teri umr ka pata nahi chalega”. The teaser promises another mind-blowing, action-packed performance by the actor in the Mardaani sequel.

Mardaani 2 cast

The cast of Mardaani 2 has been not revealed yet. Only Rani Mukerji reprising her role as cop Shivani Shivaji Roy has made it to the news. It has also been confirmed that Jishu Sengupta will be seen in the role of Shivani’s husband. But who will play Rani’s antagonist has not been confirmed yet. In a press interview, Rani Mukerji has revealed that this time her character will be fighting a "cold and fearless" villain. Since the announcement, the film appears to be doused in mystery, particularly around the cast of Mardaani 2. There have also been reports that security on the sets have been increased.

Yash Raj Films have also released the first poster of Mardaani 2 on their social media. Rani is seen sporting the khaki uniform and beret. Mardaani 2 is being promoted with the hashtag “she won’t stop”. Earlier in 2018, while announcing the film, Rani Mukerji had reportedly told in a press interview that Mardaani will always remain close to her heart. The actor expressed her excitement about working on the sequel to the film.
