Bala and Marjaavaan are two forthcoming Bollywood movies slated to release later this year. These films have been continuously making rounds in the news. Right from their selection of the star cast to the unconventional and unorthodox concepts, these movies have managed to generate excitement among fans. Here is what makes Marjaavaan and Bala stand out from the others:
From a dwarf to a bald man – Bollywood is up for unorthodox roles
Marjaavaan is an upcoming action/romance film directed by Milan Milap Zaveri. The film features the star cast of Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, Riteish Deshmukh and Rakul Preet Singh. One of the main things that caught the viewer's attention is in Marjaavaan is that the character of Riteish Deshmukh is a dwarf. The 3-foot-tall anti-hero element of the movie has never been seen before.
Apart from Marjaavaan, another upcoming Bollywood movie Bala also features another such role. The film stars the National award winner Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. The movie is based on the problems of Bala (played by Ayushmann Khurrana) when he starts experiencing pre-mature balding. Fans are all excited to see Ayushmann in the shoes of a bald guy.
The upcoming Bollywood movies Chhapaak and Ujda Chaman are other Bollywood movies that are offbeat from the mainstream ones. Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey is based on the story of Malti, an acid attack survivor. The movie starring Sunny Singh Nijjar and Maanvi Gagroo, Ujda Chaman is based on the issues of pre-mature balding just like Bala.
Other offbeat Bollywood movies
Bollywood has been working on different and unconventional scripts for some time now. Paa, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Auro and Barfi! starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra as a deaf, mute guy and an autistic girl respectively; are examples of two such movies. Both Paa and Barfi! have been well received by moviegoers. With films like The Lunchbox and Stanley Ka Dabba, Bollywood has proved that cinema can also be unorthodox and unconventional with scripts.
