After ace filmmaker Mira Nair mesmerized fans with her much-awaited series A Suitable Boy in India, she has ar surprise for her fans in store. new version of Mira’s Monsoon Wedding st musical will w open in India, followed by Singapore, in 2021.  st aptation of Nair’s 2001 Venice Golden Lion-winning film was due to open this summer in U.K. at Leeds Playhouse and London’s Roundhouse immediately after, but spre of coronavirus pandemic scuppered those plans.

According to Variety, filmmaker spoke at a virtual masterclass during ongoing Busan Film Festival, Nair said that team has decided to open next year in vember 2021. First in India, n followed by Singapore, and Dubai, perhaps, and n bring it to London and United States. While explaining story behind drama series, Mira said that It’s a wonderful musical with music from one of great composers. She even said that st musical has a total of 21 new songs which is very close to film in spirit, but it’s a st musical. Mira, at last, said that she h been working on project very painstakingly for 10-11 years. And since project is rey, she is just erly waiting for dely COVID to leave country so that st comedy can open on big sts.

In backdrop is a nation in political and social churn.
