Private life
Mouni Roy was born on September 28, 1985, in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, to a Bengali family. Mouni completed her studies from Kendriya Vidyalaya and completed her mass communication at Jamia Millia Islamia. However, she reportedly left her course halfway and reached Mumbai to try her luck in acting and be a part of the film industry. She is also a trained Kathak dancer.
Career
Mouni started her career in 2007 with Ekta Kapoor's TV show Kyun Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in which she appeared opposite Pulkit Samrat. Mouni has seen many ups and downs in her 11-year tv career. However, today Mouni is one of the most famous TV actors, and she also has appeared in multiple films. 2018 was a fortunate year for Mouni as she appeared in the role of Akshay Kumar's wife in the film Gold. Apart from this, she has also performed in an item song in the film Tum Bin 2. She was also seen opposite John Abraham in the film Romeo Akbar Walter.

Mouni has been a part of a lot of successful TV shows. Some of her successful TV shows include Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasturi, Devo ke dev Mahadev, Nagin, Naagin 2, Tashan-e-Ishq, Junoon, Naagin 3, Krishna Chali London, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja 9, Ek Tha Raja Ek The Rani.

Mouni has two big releases, one this year and one next year. In 2019, she will be seen sharing the screen space with the Judgemental Hai Kya actor Rajkummar Rao and Boman Irani. Roy will also star in the Ayan Mukherji directorial Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt , and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.
