Mukesh Khanna expressed displeasure over reports of Ranveer Singh 's casting as Shaktimaan in a potential movie reboot of the popular show. At the same time, he had named some other Bollywood stars who would not be appropriate for the role. Mukesh shared that Ajay Devgn , Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff shouldn't don the Shaktimaan suit due to their association with a pan-masala brand as part of endorsement deals. In a recent interview, Mukesh also shared the details of his meeting with Ranveer Singh.

Ranveer Singh sought Mukesh Khanna's permission to essay Shaktimaan?

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Mukesh Khanna said that, “Now people know that Ranveer Singh came to convince me for allowing him to reprise the role of Shaktimaan. I can’t hide it also because later people said that I lauded Ranveer and called him a terrific actor. News of Ranveer being confirmed to play Shaktimaan started coming but I hadn’t agreed to it.”

He further said, “I also have a conflict with Sony (Sony Pictures Films India) and I had put up a video clarifying that I haven’t approved Ranveer to play the role and the reason is that…Ranveer sat in front of me that day for 3 hours but ultimately I had to tell him that what needs to be seen on his face wasn’t there. He looks playful, like someone who would trick others.”

Mukesh added, “That photoshoot was the start of my aversion towards him. However, Ranveer told me he didn’t actually do it. He said he was wearing underwear and had fired his promotional team. I believed him, but later, when I looked back, I remembered his statement to the media, where he said he was comfortable with it. I recall giving a statement, ‘You may be comfortable, but we aren’t.'”

What do we know about Shaktimaan reboot?

According to reports, the film has been in the writing stage for over three years and the team has finally cracked a script that is reportedly worthy of doing justice to the legacy of Shaktimaan. It is reported that the film will be helmed by Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph, with Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala bankrolling the project. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
