As per reports, according to statement by Textile ministry, handloom sector continues to be an important source of livelihood, especially for women, who form around 70% of weavers or allied workers in sector. day is celebrated to hour handloom community and ackwledge ir contribution to India’s socio-ecomic development. year aim of ministry is to protect this herit and to empower workers in this sector.

According to reports, this year, as part of social media campaign, ministry has requested all Union Ministers, Lieutenant Goverrs, Chief Ministers, MPs as well as industrials of eminence to stand in solidarity with handloom weaving community of country through ir social media accounts. Apart from that, Secretaries to central government and officers at equivalent levels have also been presented with a similar request.
