Nawazuddin Siddiqui says 'Content driven films are propaganda films, not cinema'

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's latest film, Motichoor Chaknachoor, was recently released in atres across country on vember 15. In an interview, actor spoke about his views on content-driven social films. While Nawazuddin himself is kwn for his roles in content-driven movies, he does t believe that such movies are actually cinema and finds m to be more akin to propaganda.

In a recent interview with a entertainment website, Nawazuddin revealed his thoughts on recent trend of content-driven films that deal with social issues. According to him, such films are like propaganda, where you pick up a social issue and make it look like a national crisis. He says that while se films tackle important issues y still have same usual tropes and will have five songs and an item dance number just like a rmal Bollywood Masala film. So for se reasons he does t really believe in calling such films content-driven.
He, however, clarified that he was t against signing up for such a film. According to him, that is what is currently working in Indian market and he himself has started to do same thing. Many of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's films are kwn to be content-driven and tackle harsh subjects or social issues. However, he still ds five songs into his films and calls m content driven as a selling point.

He also said that he believes that actors should have a commercial standing to be successful, as only n will a film be me and actor's name can be used to sell film. He said that reason that he is doing so many commercial films today is that he has a market value. Nawazuddin also ded that distributors kw about an actors value and y also kw why a film flops or becomes a hit.

When asked if he thought independent films are t commercially viable, Nawazuddin said that such a perception needs to change. He said that small films do t flop ways due to digital mediums. However, he ded that disaster occurs when big-budget films flop. But even n, those films also man to recover ir money after atrical release is over and ir failure does t really affect big-name actors.
