Ex-flames Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, who share a platonic bond now, were speculated to be paired opposite each other in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame director Luv Ranjan's next directorial. The film is said to also star Ajay Devgn.
As per latest news reports, Mrs Ranveer Singh has been cast opposite Devgn instead of Ranbir in the movie. The movie is likely to mark Ranbir and Ajay's second film together after Raajneeti (directed by Prakash Jha) which had released in 2010. Apparently, Deepika had dropped out of the film earlier citing that she will not work with any of those accused in the #MeToo movement but there is no official confirmation yet.
All about Luv Ranjan's next venture
Luv Ranjan's next untitled film is slated for a 2020 release and is believed to encompass the story of a man, his second wife and their son. Numerous speculations continue to surround the film's casting, story and release.
According to rumours, Devgn seems to be opting out of Ranjan's film for Neeraj Pandey's Chanakya. Check out the post below that was posted by Luv Ranjan's team where Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor were seen in talks with the director.
If the trio is officially confirmed as the cast of the film, then it would be an on-screen reunion for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as well after Tamasha released in 2015. Deepika was also seen outside Luv Ranjan's house around July along with Ranbir and was rumoured to have signed the film as well.

After the success of Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is currently filming for her upcoming movies which include Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak in which she plays the role of an acid attack survivor and ’83 playing Ranveer Singh's reel wife. In Chhapaak, Deepika will portray the role of an acid attack survivor alongside actor Vikrant Massey. The film also happens to be the debut production venture of Deepika.
