Nikkhil vani recently anunced his upcoming passion project, Rocket Boys. Sony Liv series will focus on lives and achievements of India's three greatest and brightest scientists; Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai and APJ Abdul Kalam as it chronicles ir immense contribution in fields of nuclear physics and research. Nikkhil has recently commenced shooting for -drama series in Jaipur, with his cast and crew all set to explore iconic Indian scientists' contribution to Indian research and development.

Procuring necessary permissions for real-life stories could have posed a difficulty, but vani says team h initiated talks with Sarabhai and Bhabha families by late 2019, for more insight into lives of late scientists. In an interview to Mid-Day, Nikkhil vani said that script for Rocket Boys was shared at an early st with Sarabhai family. film's team h also spoken to Homi Bhabha's family in hopes of developing a more "auntic" story on great scientists.  unit kicked off Abhay Pannu-directed project in Jaipur last month, with Ishwak Singh of Paatal Lok fame playing Vikram Sarabhai.  late scientist’s daughter Mallika Sarabhai has also graciously agreed to help film's crew, with respect to choreography. Her son is also reportedly one of main dancers in one of dance sequences filmed.

Stripping right down to essentials, vani agrees that human drama is one of his most ambitious projects. However, he is confident of doing justice to subject matter using limited resources for film. In 2016, Nikkhil vani produced 2016 historical drama Airlift on a smaller budget than was expected. According to publication, vani said that big stories can be pulled off with a small budget if planning is done meticulously. Earlier, co-producer of  series sent him early foot of film, to which Nikkhil said he was impressed with production quality.

At moment, producer is unwilling to reveal who has stepped into shoes of Homi Bhabha and APJ Abdul Kalam. Inste, all he revealed is that story of three great minds will have m traversing India and UK. He said series shooting will be a gruelling 150-day schedule. show will be shot across Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan, Mussoorie, Cambridge and London. crew will attempt to shoot in last two cities post-April this year when lockdown in UK is hopefully lifted.
