The #MeToo movement has exposed several prominent names from different lines of profession. A lot of names have been specifically raised from Bollywood, including popular actors, directors and producers among others.
Recently, Mukesh Chhabra, a casting director, was accused of sexual harassment. One of the four women who accused Mukesh Chhabra of sexual misconduct was quoted as saying that he grabbed her hand and felt her upon in the name of showing her how a scene needed to be done.
Ace Tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi took to twitter and posted a strong message regarding the ongoing #MeToo movement, sharing an anecdote from his personal life.
In the elaborate post he shared on Twitter, Bhupathi wrote, "Two days ago my wife, who's shooting out of town, got an offer from a leading international digital platform through Mukesh Chhabra's company. She forwarded it to me for my feedback. I asked if she really wanted to empower his company even after what's been in the news. Her reaction was that the digital platform hadn't really pulled back business from him either. Later, Lara got in touch with the digital platform and told them she wouldn't accept work through this company specifically. I think she did the right thing. I am not sure it's enough though."
Mahesh Bhupathi, further questioned through his post, whether Sajid Khan not directing 'Housefull 4' anymore is enough ? He further wrote, "Last night a friend from the talent industry told me everyone is waiting for a month or so for matters to die down and then it will be business as usual. "
The tennis player felt that he needs to say and do something on his behalf. The father of a six-year-old girl wrote, "Personally or professionally, I have known and engaged with Suhel Seth, Vikas Bahl, Anirban Blah, Chetan Bhagat, Sajid Khan and Anu Malik. That ends today on all accounts. "
He also urged people in position of influence to alienate "serial predators".
On the other hand, Mukesh Chhabra, denied all such allegations in a post on Twitter. He stated that it is unfortunate that all his hard work has been muzzled with a series of anonymous allegations. He further stated that the complaint should have first been sent to an ICC committee for investigation.
