Bollywood has recently seen quite a few period films. A few more seem to be on ir way in 2020, one such being Panipat. It is being directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and is reportedly based on third battle of Panipat which took place between Marathas and King of Afghanistan. Panipat has Kriti San, Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Mir Sarwar and Zeenat Aman in lead roles. It is slated to release on December 6, 2019. Here is a list of four female historical characters whose story have been adapted by Bollywood onto silver screen:
Jodhaa Bai
character of Jodhaa Bai was played onscreen by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2008 release, Jodhaa Akbar. Hrithik Roshan was cast as Akbar in movie. Jodhaa Akbar covered span of Mughal emperor Akbar’s rule right from his childhood till when he consolidated his reign in India. Padmini
story of Rajput queen Padmini sacrificing herself to fire to escape evil clutches of Muslim emperor Alauddin Khilji one of famous legends. Sanjay Leela Bhansali adapted it on silver screen in 2018 as Padmaavat. Deepika Padukone was cast in role of Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Rani Laxmi Bai
Kangana Ranaut revived role of Rani Laxmi Bai on screen in movie, Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi. Laxmi Bai was kwn for her bravery as she led battle against British army to protect her kingdom. Anarkali
star-crossed lovers, Prince Salim (later emperor Jahangir) and court-dancer Anarkali, gave India one of its greatest love story. Prince Salim had fallen in love with dancer at Akbar’s court who was kwn for her beauty and grace. However, ir love was t accepted by emperor. se events were adapted on screen by director K.
