PVR CEO disappointed with films getting an OTT release, issues statement

PVR CEO, Kamal Gianchandani stated in an interview with a publication about movies being released on OTT platforms in this lockdown phase.

One of largest atre chains in India, PVR Pictures broke silence over some Bollywood and regional films getting an OTT release saying that y are extremely disappointed with producers aiming to release ir films on streaming services as well as bypassing traditional atrical route. PVR has also stated that atrical experience remains best medium for public to enjoy watching movies. Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR said to an esteemed publication that atrical release is best way for public to enjoy labor and creative genius of filmmakers.

CEO of PVR confident that masses will flock to atres once situation returns to rmalcy

PVR has also joined hands with its industry contemporary IX in raising concern over several filmmakers opting for a digital release during this phase when movie atres are closed due to COVID-19 pandemic. CEO of PVR also said that pandemic has caused an unfortunate shutdown of atres but that y are confident that when situation returns to rmalcy, masses will inevitably flock to atres to watch movies. CEO of PVR furr added that when situation becomes better, re will be an increasing demand within cine-goers for movie atres after y have been locked up in ir homes for such a long time.

CEO of PVR, Kamal Gianchandani has also said that exhibitors have asked producers to 'hold back ir films' until movie atres are reopened. PVR CEO also added that y are upset with some of ir producers going straight to streaming platforms to release ir movies. t only PVR, but IX has also stated ir disappointment over makers of Gulabo Sitabo deciding to release film on Amazon Prime on June 12, 2020.

Many regional films will also be witnessing an OTT release

Joining film, is Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi which will also witness an Amazon Prime release. Several regional films of South Indian movie industry like Penguin, Ponmagal Vandhal, Sufiyum Sujatayum, French Biryani and Law will also be releasing on OTT platform. Apart from this, or Bollywood movies like Laxxmi Bomb, Gunjan Saxena, Indoo Ki Jawaani and Coolie 1 will also reportedly see an OTT release.
