R Balki's Ghoomer to open Indian Film Festival of Melbourne; here's what the film is about

Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher are helining  upcoming film Ghoomer. movie will be screened as opener at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 12, 2023. And it has been directed by rewned film mker R Balki.

What is Ghooomer about? 

movie narrates story of a paraplegic person, played by Sayami Kher. Throughout course of movie, she overcomes her versity to excel as a cricketer. Her coach, played by Abhishek, guides her in process.

In a joint statement, filmmaker and actor said that film is a “tribute to Sport and reservoir of human resilience.” As per reports, movie is inspired by achievements of Karoly Takacs, who was first shooter to win two Olympic gold medals with his left hand after sustaining an injury in his right hand.

Saiyami Kher, who is protagonist in film expressed her excitement about being a part of project. In a statement, she mentioned always to have wanted to play a sportsperson and finally got opportunity to do so. She also revealed that movie is a story of ‘triumph in extreme versity’. Talking more about film she said that film is one of most emotionally demanding films she has ever done. 

Ghoomer to open at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

Since movie deals with life of a sportsperson, makers are thrilled to showcase it in Melbourne, sports capital of world. film will be showcased at Indian Film Festival on August 12, held in Melbourne. This is t first time an Abhishek Bachchan starrer movie is being showcased at film festival. Previously, Bunty Aur Babli, Dostana, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Paa, were also showcased. Bachchan was also conferred with Leership in Cinema Award at film festival in 2022.
