R Madhavan appointed as FTII president, Anurag Thakur sends ‘heartiest congratulations’

R Madhavan has now become the President of FTII, and the chairman of its governing council. He received the honour after his National Film Award win.

R Mhavan has been part of Indian cinema since 1996 and has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Kanna, Malayalam, and Telugu industries. In 2022, actor me his directorial debut with Rocketry: Nambi Effect. Despite performing acting and directorial duties, he received Best Feature Film accole at National Film Award. Now, actor-director has received a high honour.

R Mhavan gets appointed as president of FTII

Mhavan has now been bestowed with presidency of Film and Television Insititute of India. Moreover, he is also Chairman of governing council. Union Minister of Information and Brocasting, and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur congratulated Rocketry director with a post on X.

He gave his ‘heartiest congratulations,’ and wrote, “I’m sure that your vast experience and strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, and take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you.” 

R Mhavan’s reaction to winning National Film Award

After winning big at 69th National Film Awards, R Mhavan spoke with Republic Media Network’s Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami. During conversation, Mhavan expressed gratitude over massive feat and called win a matter of great pride. He recalled how he arrived at decision to direct movie.

"This story and concept was brought to me by Mr. Anant Mahevan when he told me about Nambi Narayanan sir. I remember wanting to research him immediately and very strangely last scene of this film is actually from an interview that he gave and we h to match him and me in terms of looks so that it looks seamless in film,” said Mhavan. During conversation, he also spoke about meeting Nambi Narayanan, and India’s Chandrayaan-3 achievement.
