Radhika Apte has come a long way in her career, that is set to complete 15 years soon. From doing bit roles, the actor established herself as a force to reckon with. Be it sharing screen space with some of the major names in Bollywood like Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Varun Dhawan in commercial films or offbeat and even international ventures, the actor’s success can’t be ignored. Moreover, she has worked with some of the most popular filmmakers of the country like Anurag Kashyap, Sriram Raghavan and R Balki. Now, the Parched star is taking another important step in her life. She has turned a director, wielding the microphone for the first time for a short film Sleepwalkers featuring Gulshan Devaiah and Shahana Goswami. The actor stated that it all happened ‘suddenly’, when her script got the backing of Abhishek Chaubey, Honey Trehan and Lalit Prem Sharma. She also shared that she is open to the feedback since this will be a learning curve for her.

Radhika Apte shared the news in an interview with a tabloid. The actor revealed that the entire process happened ‘suddenly’. She then opened up that she was trying to write a short film, and producers Abhishek Chaubey, Honey Trehan and Lalit Prem Sharma decided to produce it. The Pad Man star added that she is ‘learning’ a lot in the process and that she is open to the ‘outcome’. The shooting for Sleepwalkers has been completed. The short film will be 30 minutes duration.

Previously, Radhika Apte has herself featured in multiple short films. Some of the popular ones include Ahalya, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and Shirish Kunder’s Kriti opposite Manoj Bajpayee. Both were thrillers. It is not clear yet if Sleepwalkers will be in the same genre, but the producers have revealed that the story is about Mother Nature, and the citizens’ responsibility towards the society.

Before Sleepwalkers
Radhika Apte had recently featured in the ‘India’s Got Colour’ video, again by an actor-turned-director Nandita Das. It had poked fun at the discrimination on the basis of colour. On the film front, she last featured in the The Wedding Guest opposite Dev Patel.
