Bollywood has always welcomed new faces with warm appreciation in return of some quality struggle. Raj Kummar Rao is one of the biggest examples of this. Raj has made his way to the top with his acting skills, from time to time. No wonder he is considered as one of the most versatile actors Bollywood has ever got. It took nine years for Raj Kummar to reach the pace, to be called as a celebrated actor standing shoulder to shoulder with Bollywood A-listers. The Stree actor has surely proved his mettle as an actor. Here are some of his performances that helped him get into the limelight.

LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010)

Dibakar Banerjee’s film was Raj Kummar’s official debut in Bollywood as a lead. The movie was a bold and experimental selection which marked Rao’s name in the industry. Instead of going for cliché romance drama, Raj Kummar turned his eyes towards a unique topic. LSD explores the human emotions of love, sex & betrayal through very candid points of view. Raj Kummar is seen as Adarsh who uses sex as a weapon to clear his debts.

Shahid (2012)

Shahid was the film that got Raj Kummar Rao the National award for the Best Actor. Director Hansal Mehta’s Shahid is based on the life of a lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi who is accused of plotting against the state. The movie narrates the story of humanity under siege. Raj Kummar Rao’s performance in it gained him immense appreciation.

Kai Po Che! (2013)

Kai Po Che! was the film that launched two most renowned actors, Raj Kummar Rao and Sushant Singh Rajput, who are known to be the next-gen talents of Bollywood. The movie is based on Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name. It is based on the life story of three friends, Sushant Singh Rajput as Ishaan, Raj Kummar Rao as Govind and Amit Sadh as Omi. The trio opens a sports shop together but drifts apart because of communal tension. The backdrop of the movie is set against the 2001 Gujarat Earthquake and Godhra train burning incident.

City Lights (2014)

The collaboration of Hansal Mehta and Raj Kummar Rao has always proved successful. City Lights was another example of it after Shahid. Raj Kummar’s acting in City Lights was marked as one of the best and top rating performances of the actor. Rao played the role of Deepak, a family man from Rajasthan who is forced into unfavourable circumstances due to poverty and debt. His chemistry with actor and his real-life girlfriend Patralekhaa was also adored by everyone.

Stree (2018)

Raj Kummar’s last release, Stree, was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2018. The actor was appreciated for his comic role in the film. Rao received the Best Actor award at the Screen Awards. Stree is a horror-comedy helmed by Amar Kaushik. Raj Kummar is seen as Vicky, the ghost lover, in the film.
