Ranveer Singh calls Rocky Randhawa a ‘direct descendant’ of Kareena Kapoor’s iconic character Poo

Ranveer Singh received praises from people around the globe for portraying a Punjabi character Rocky in the film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. During an interview with the Samira Turkistani YouTube channel at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, the actor referred to his character Rocky Randhawa as the "direct descendant" of Kareena Kapoor's iconic character Poo aka Pooja from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The Bajirao Mastani actor also emphasised on the impact and popularity of his role in the film.

Why did Ranveer Singh call Rocky a descendant of Poo?

During the conversation, Ranveer Singh delved deeper into his character Rocky Randhawa from the film and expressed gratitude for the love he received. He further said that Rocky was "the direct descendant of Poo." However, he revealed that it was difficult for him to bring the character to life.

He added, "I am so happy with the way people engaged with Rocky, the little Rockyisms that have come into colloquial use, that's when you know a character is really loved."

Ranveer pays tribute to Johnny Depp

Ranveer Singh, who was honoured with the prestigious Yusr Award at the Red Sea International Festival by actress Sharon Stone, paid a tribute to his "screen idol" Johnny Depp and called him the “master of transformation.”

Ranveer, during his acceptance speech, thanked Depp. He said: "Wow! One of my screen idols is in the house, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Johnny Depp. My good Sir, I've followed your work since Edward Scissorhands and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. What an honour to be receiving this in your presence."

"Thank you for everything that you unknowingly taught me about the craft. Master of transformation, versatility, something that I am inspired by you." He also posed with Depp or a picture together. The picture was posted by Red Sea Film Festival's official Instagram handle.

On the work front, Ranveer will be seen in Singham Again and Don 3.
