Peshwa Bajirao Ballal in Bajirao Mastani(2015): This was the first time Ranveer was about to do such a serious role. An avid believer of ‘Method acting’ he prepared for this role for as longest time to get into the skin of the character. Ranveer Singh even shaved off his head to look convincing in the film. The film did wonders at the box-office and it began a new inning for the actor after a few flops like Kill Dill and Lootera. From the songs to performances of all the actors, the movie was a piece of art. Songs like Vat lagli, Pinga topped the radio charts for a few weeks. Ranveer’s character Peshwa Bajirao falls in love with the Princess of Bundelkhand (Deepika Padukone) despite being married to Kashi (Priyanka Chopra). It was a dramatic love story.

Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Padmavat (2018): When Ranveer played Khilji, the critics and audience were left awe-struck with his effortless portrayal of the cruel king. Khilji was mesmerized by the beauty of a Rajput queen Padmavati ( Deepika Padukone), wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh ( Shahid Kapoor) King of Mewar. He tries to win over Padmavati with his power but the Rajput queen fights back and sacrifices herself before Alauddin could reach her. It was a story of pride and glory of the Indian queens in that era. Ranveer’s performance was so impressive that, one cannot imagine anyone else doing the role. This was the first time Ranveer played an antagonist, and he simply stole the show with his stellar performance.
