1. Daman: A victim of marital violence
This 2001 drama film directed by Kalpana Lajmi was a turning point of Raveena Tandon. Raveena Tandon stunned everyone with her performance has a battered wife who then takes charge of her own life and fights for her desires. Raveena’s successful portrayal of marital violence victim and a mother won her the National Film Award for Best Actress that year. Daman also received critical acclaim for its storyline and was also distributed by the Indian Government.

2. Aks
Aks was a 2001 supernatural- drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film starred Shehenshah Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles. Raveena Tandon although she had a small role in this film, her presence was eminent on-screen. She made the role of Neeta a page-turner and impactful in the storyline of the film. Raveena Tandon’s performance in Aks earned her a Filmfare Award in the Special Performance category.

3. Shool
Shool was a 1999 action-crime film directed Eeshwar Nivas and produced and written by Ram Gopal Verma. The film starred Manoj Bajpayee and Raveena Tandon in lead roles. Manoj Bajpayee played the role of an honest cop in the film whereas Raveena plays the role of his wife. Raveena played her role with such immense passion that even though the story revolves around the disturbance in a cop’s life due to the political drama around him, Raveena’s character maintained a strong presence throughout the film.

4. Satta
This 2003 Indian political drama directed by Madhur Bhandarkar showed Raveena Tandon in a completely different light. When Raveena takes up the role of a politician as her husband a former politician lands up in jail due to murder charges being pressed on him the story’s dynamic completely changes. Raveena dominates the screen with her strong portrayal of a politician’s wife and later on leading the pack. Satta not only received critical acclaim but is also considered one of Raveena Tandon’s best performances.
