Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Vs Singham Again: The two Bollywood biggies hit the big screens on the same day - November 1. Cashing in on the Diwali holiday, the movies released together gave rise to an imperative box office comparison between them and arguably impacted the business of both the movies. However, as per Sacnilk, not the filmmakers but streaming platforms had a role to play in deciding the release dates of the films.

Why did Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again release on the same day?

Many believed that both the franchise movies wanted to hit the big screens during the Diwali holiday. One of the biggest holidays of the year, the audience was under the impression that the filmmakers wanted to reap the most benefits of the extended festivities. However, a report in Sacnilk claims that the film's premiere on OTT platforms played the deciding factor in its theatrical release.

As per the industry tracker, Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, that the makers of both films were against the clash. However, as per Kumar, they were bound by a ‘contractual agreement’ with OTT platforms which is why either movie could not be moved. He shared, "Nowadays, there are some constraints, like pre-commitments with OTT platforms. If you try to change those dates, the OTT platform doesn't allow it. That was our constraint, and they probably had similar ones."

Singham Again will premiere on Amazon Prime Video while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will debut on Netflix. Postponing the films' release in theatres could have pushed back their streaming date, which would likely go against the agreed-upon contract.

What did Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again makers say about the clash?

It is largely agreed that both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again could have registered better business had they gotten a solo release, which would translate to more screens and a less divided audience. Speaking to ANI, Singham Again director Rohit Shetty shared, “We tried to avoid the clash (with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) but the only issue was that we had the theme of Diwali otherwise we could have released the film anytime. After a week, both the films created a revenue of over Rs 300 crores which is quite rare.”

In an interview with Hindi Rush, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 maker Anees Bazmee seemed to be in sync with Shetty and said, “That (working of both the films) was very important for the industry. Every film that is released should work. Making of a film means there’s a lot of money going into it, and it also takes care of many people’s jobs. There are so many people working so hard to make a single film. So I always wish that all the films would do well. It was my dua from the very first day that both the films should be successful. I am very happy sab accha hua. I don’t believe in completion, for me it is like we all are coming together, they are all my friends in that film. Arjun is a friend, so is Ajay ji and Akshay and Rohit. Both the films are doing well and everybody is happy."

Singham Again is the third film in the Singham franchise after the first film in 2011 and 2014's Singham Returns. The first Bhool Bhulaiyaa was released in 2007, while the second one, led by Kartik Aaryan, was released in 2022 and was a blockbuster.
