Rhea Kapoor reveals the reason she didn’t become an actress like Sonam and Anil Kapoor had a major role to play in it

The success of ‘Khoobsurat’ a few years ago and the recent ‘Veere Di Wedding’ established Rhea Kapoor as a successful producer. However, she probably wouldn’t have ventured into production, but instead become an actress if not for her father Anil Kapoor’s discouragement.

Rhea recently appeared on ‘Koffee with Karan’ along with her siblings, Sonam and Harshvardhan where she revealed that her father was worried about her ending up as the heroine’s sister or just ‘lurking around.’  Later, when she became an assistant director on ‘Wake Up Sid’, she got more convinced about not being to go through the process as she was a ‘control freak.’ 

The host, Karan Johar, quizzed her on why Anil Kapoor never thought she should become an actress, instead of her eventual career decision. Rhea said, "I can't tell you exactly what he said because he used some individuals' names. He was just afraid that I would be like a heroine's sister or just lurking around. He could see through my personality. The first day on your set Wake Up Sid, I knew I cannot become an actress." 

KJo, being the producer of the movie, then asked her if the procedures for the actress’ look, Konkona Sen Sharma in that case, involving hairstyling and make-up was the reason for her decision.  She replied, "No, I can't just come in the middle of this gigantic process and say do whatever you like with me. I am too much of a control freak, I can't handle that."

The ‘Aisha’ producer also hinted that Anil Kapoor had something to say about her looks, which Sonam was offended about. However, Rhea defended her father on the show.
