Richa Chadha was last seen in Section 375 alongside Akshaye Khanna. The star has always maintained comedy as her favourite genre when it comes to filmmaking. The actor is particularly famous for her role as Bholi Punjaban from Fukrey. With that role, the actor has proven her knack for comedy with her impeccable comic timing in the film. Richa is now all set to take that love for comedy to the next level. She will be seen in a comic show and will be mentored by comedians Ashish Shakya and Sapan Verma. She also spent a week getting trained under these two.

The format of One Mic Stand is such that a comedian trains a celebrity for a week and then a live show is hosted where the two mentors perform their set in front of a live audience. The twist is that the audience is unaware that the celebrity is a surprise guest who is performing as the last act on the episode based on their training with the respective mentor.

Talking about what made her take on this project, the actor commented that she loves to see people laugh and it is truly a joyous thought to stand on stage and spread humour with words. To know that she can do that is a satisfying feeling. She also added that she has dabbled in stand-up comedy before very briefly but it was a challenge taking this on and how Sapan and Ashish have been admirable mentors and have been pushing her to do better with each step. She further shared how they have distinctive styles and she imbibed a lot from their individual style and that it has been both daunting and exciting to take this up professionally even for a brief while and learning from the experts.

Further explaining her personality, she said that humour comes naturally to her as a way fo expressing herself and she struggled with how much of herself to reveal because she is aware that people think of her a serious person. She added that it was confusing and is an experiment for her at best and then again, she owes her entire career to experimentation.
