Rio Kapadia, Chak De India and Mardaani actor, dies aged 66

Rio Kapadia passed away aged 66 in Mumbai and will be laid to rest on September 15. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Popular film and TV actor Rio Kapadia is no more. He breathed his last aged 66 on Thursday, September 14. Kapadia is survived by his wife and two kids. Kapadia's last rites will be held in Goregaon on Friday morning. A close friend of Kapadia issued an official statement confirming that the actor died at 12:30 pm, according to news agency IANS. The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Rio Kapadia is no more

Rio Kapadia's last rites will be held at Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhumi in Goregaon. The actor is survived by his wife, Maria Farah and kids Aman and Veer. Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) expressed its condolences after Kapadia's demise.

He was a member of the association since 2004. Some of his most recent appearances were in web series including Test Case, City of Dreams, Skyfire, Avrodh, Verdict, India Strikes, Code M Season 2, Made in Heaven and Postcards from India. He also played the role of Mrunal Thakur's father in Made In Heaven 2.

Rio Kapadia began his acting career in 1997 and went on to feature in popular TV shows like Kutumb, Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, Ek Ladki Anjani Si, Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai, Pradhan Mantri, Judwa Raja, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Antariksh, Mahabharat, Zindagi Ke Crossroads and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

In 2001, Kapadia made his Bollywood debut with Dil Chahta Hai, where he made a brief appearance towards the end. He was noticed and went on to regularly feature in films in character roles. Quite often, he essayed officers in uniform. Some of his popular film roles were Dil Chahta Hai, Chak De India, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Prince, Agent Vinod, Stree, Khuda Hafiz, Happy New Year and Big Bull.

Kapadia often shared glimpses from his travel around the world with family on Instagram. His last post on the social media platform was shared on June 5, in which we see glimpses from his European vacation.
