It was the year of 2012 when Imtiaz Ali gifted Indian cinema with a gem named Rockstar. Upon its release, the Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri starrer Rockstar may have received opposing reactions from the audience. But there is no denying about the fantastic musical score of the film. A.R. Rahman’s magical music wove Irshad Kamil’s words in such a beautiful manner that till date Rockstar is hailed to have the best musical score. Here are the five best songs of the film on its eighth anniversary.
Jo Bhi Main
Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Jordan, a singer who is troubled. Jordan's anxiety comes out beautifully with the song Jo Bhi Main. Ranbir’s dilemma about his path in life is the highlight of the song. Also, no matter whatever confusion you have, you will surely relate to the words and will remember each line.
Naadan Parindey
One of the songs of the film Nadaan Parindey can still send shivers down your spine. By the time the song appears in the film, Jordan (Ranbir Kapoor) has lost everything he ever had. The song describes his surreal images of the woman he loves which adds more pain to him.
Kun Faaya Kun
The song embarks the beginning of Jordan's spiritual journey in the film. Along with Mohit Chauhan, the song has the vocals of Javed Ali, Rahman and Nizami Brothers. This song changes his life when a musical legend (played by Shammi Kapoor) heard the song of Jordan in the mosque.
Sadda Haq
The first song of the movie Sadda Haq was a fast turning into the rock anthem of the modern generation. The heavy strings used in the song took audiences to a world where music means just rock. As per some media reports the lyrics of Sadda Haq is inspired by a peasant movement that has taken place in and around the national capital some years ago.
Phir Se Ud Chala
The lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil while the music is by A.R. Rahman and is sung by Mohit Chauhan. The song appears in the film when the lead character Jordan realises that he has fallen in love with Heer, but she is getting married to some other man. The song also shows his journey of becoming Jordan the Rockstar and how he comes in contact with his inner self and spirituality through music.
