Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani inches towards Rs 150 crore, sees jump on Independence Day

August 15 witnessed the biggest day ever for the Indian box office, with films like Gadar 2 and Jailer recording massive collections of Rs 55 crore and Rs 34 crore, respectively. Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 too did well, with a business of Rs 17.1 crore. Amidst such mammoth successes, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani continued to hold its ground at the box office and made healthy gains.

RARKPK Day 19 figures higher than Day 15

RARKPK’s collection on its third Tuesday was higher than its Friday collections. Its gross collection on Day 19 stands at Rs 3.54 crore, whereas its Day 15 collection was Rs 2.35 crore. The Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer like other current releases, definitely reaped the benefits of the Independence Day holiday.

Apart from its resonance with family audiences and strong box-office collection, RARKPK had also created buzz for one of its scenes where veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi were seen sharing a kiss.

Besides garnering reactions from internet users, the scene also evoked enough buzz that personalities like Sunny Deol, Jaya Bachchan and Javed Akhtar were asked for their reactions to the said scene.

RARKPK is all set to reach the Rs 150 crore mark

The film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt had released on July 28. While it minted Rs 11.1 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk, the film only showed growth on subsequent days and emerged as a bonafide success at the box office. 

RARKPK’s domestic collections now stand at Rs 137 crore. The film is now comfortably on its way toward the 150-crore mark. Going by the trend, the film should reach the said mark this coming weekend.
