It was a case of contrasting fortunes at box office on occasion of Diwali. While one ‘big’ movie, Housefull 4, was talk of town for various reasons, two or ‘smaller’ films, Me in China and Saand Ki Aankh too tried to stand out amid festive fervour. interesting bit is that latter two got much better reviews from critics, and former was panned by most of m. However, audiences’ love for 'star power' resulted in Housefull 4 overshowing or releases by a humongous margin at box office. As a result, Saand Ki Aankh and Me in China couldn’t create much of an impact at box office, earning only around Rs 1 crore at box office on opening day.

Tale of contrasts

As per reports, Me in China earned Rs 1-1.25 crore on Friday. On or hand, Saand Ki Aankh reportedly earned Rs 50 lakh on opening day. While Me in China received aver to good reviews, Saand Ki Aankh was hailed massively by most of reviewers. At same time, Housefull 4 is way ahe of two, earning Rs 19 crore on first day.

pre-Diwali buzz surrounding movies is usually low as audiences like to wait for Diwali to kick in, perform rituals at home and n come out in big numbers post that. So, as far as this Diwali weekend is concerned, after Sunday, first few days of next week are also expected to bring in significant number of footfalls. It would n be interesting to see how se three movies would fare. Several movies have taken a turnaround after a poor start, and Saand Ki Aankh particularly can hope for a change in fortunes.
