Saif Ali Khan: Will Jawaani Jaaneman be a breather after Sacred Games?

Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Sacred Games 2 playing the role of a cop. After such an intense drama, will Saif's next Jawani Jaaneman be lighter for the fans?

Netflix series Sacred Games created a lot of buzz among the fans. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kriti Kharbanda and others, the fans went crazy over the characters. Saif Ali Khan plays a stressed cop who has to save Mumbai in 25 days while Nawazuddin plays a gangster named Ganesh Gaitonde. After this intense role, Saif will be seen next in Jawaani Jaaneman.

Will Jawaani Jaaneman be a breather after dark dramas like Sacred Games?

After Sacred Games, a lot of dark dramas made their way into Bollywood through OTT platforms. Shortly after Sacred Games, Amazon released its own original Mirzapur starring Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Mirzapur is also a gangster drama set in the town of Mirzapur that is led by Kaleen Bhaiya who is in the business of gun-making and uses a carpet business as his cover.

With Mirzapur taking off, a lot of other dramas also started coming up. Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji released its original series Apaharan starring Arunoday Singh, Mahie Gill and Nidhi Singh in the lead roles. Netflix also released another series, Ghoul starring Radhika Apte. It was a dark drama of just 3-episodes. 

Witnessing all of these, Hotstar also jumped in the pool with its original series, Criminal Justice. The series starred Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, and Pankaj Tripathi. Recently other thrillers like Bard of Blood and The Family Man were also well received by the audience.

After this era of dark dramas, Saif Ali Khan will be seen next in Jawaani Jaaneman. The film also stars Tabu and Chunky Panday. This film will mark the Bollywood debut of Pooja Bedi’s daughter, Alaia F. It will be a coming of age story revolving about the relationship of a father-daughter duo and is set to hit the screens on November 29, 2019. In an interview, Tabu said that she will be playing a lighter role in this one. Talking about the plotline, fans are expecting this to be a breezy drama which will be a light dose of comedy for the audience.
