He replied saying ''I don’t think re was a concept of India till perhaps British gave it one. I don’t think re is any constructive point in arguing about loudly, provided you kw why you’re doing it." Saif Ali Khan ackwledged that politics in movie is questionable and idea of Swaraj that film showcases does t qualify as history as India as a nation had thing like self-governed nation until British gave one. Many actors including Kangana Ranaut, Vivek Agnihotri slammed actor for this statement.

Saif Ali Khan made headlines when he made some bold statements about Azaaan. According to some reports, Saif Ali Khan who is kwn for being very vocal opened up about his view on same matter. actor said to one of leading daily portals:

''Don’t kw who you are offending. At one level I agree, lesser sound better, re should be certain decibel levels allowed across religious practices. I also understand amplification of sound during azaan comes from insecurity. t just here but also in Israel apparently where three different religions co-exist. It’s been written about so I believe it’s same. As a mirity, you would like to make your presence felt and hopefully accepted. If someone says that it should be extinguished, it will make some people little uncomfortable. As a precursor to some sort of holocaust, it’s first thing you think of. re’s a bit of fear re.''

Saif Ali Khan furr caught himself in ar controversy when he replied to Sonu Nigam's tweet on same issue. He found his point of view on Azaan to be a bit aggressive. Reportedly, this is what actor said to leading daily:

''It’s fine to express your views on decibel levels. I think that tweet was a bit aggressive though, initially. And I do think religion should be a private affair and we should be a secular country.''
