Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s selfie with the Bollywood stars in January was among the most talked-about moments this year. While that interaction was for the betterment of entertainment industry, the PM’s latest meeting with the B-Town celebrities is for another special reason, to honour the 150th birth anniversary of the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi. PM Modi and Bollywood celebrities marked the occasion in a grand way on Saturday, with the latter promising to take the ideals of Gandhi further ahead on a creative basis. Some of the biggest names of the country also came together for an inspirational video that sums up the major principles the leader followed and hoped the citizens follow too.

Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munnabhai was among the most unique ways to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, using humour to convey his ideas. The filmmaker was perhaps the right person to helm another mark of respect to him. The 3 Idiots maker uses the voice of Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam K Ahuja, Vicky Kaushal and Shah Rukh Khan to spread his philosophy. In the video, the stars are all dressed in black outfits as they recite some of Mahatma Gandhi’s most popular quotes in Hindi.
“You can chain me, you can torture me. You can destroy my body, but you will never be able to imprison my thoughts;” “I object to violence because it seems that the peace received through it is temporary, the evil it does is permanent;” “The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the strong;” “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others;” “With a strong belief in your purpose even an insignificant being can change the course of history;” “I’m ready to die, but there is no reason for which I’m ready to kill;” “You are product of your thought, what you think you become;” "Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony”; “You must not lose faith in humanity, humanity is like an ocean, if a few drops of the ocean get dirty, the ocean does not become dirty” were some of the quotes. The video ends with Lage Raho Munnabhai’s song ‘Bande me tha dum, Vande Mataram’ lyrics. Even PM Modi shared it on Twitter and termed it as an excellent effort that will inspire citizens.
