Section 375, apart from garnering a lot of appreciation online, was not able to perform well at the box office. The film’s collection was lesser than Akshaye’s last film The Accidental Prime minister starring Anupam Kher. The film, on its opening day, reportedly collected Rs. 1.45 crores which is very disappointing for a film that bagged ample of appreciation from the audience. The film was competing with two other big releases including Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichhore and Ayushmann Khuranna’s Dream Girl which could be the reason for its low collection at the box office.
Section 375 box office collection till date
According to reports, the movie was on similar grounds with the Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink but did not manage to collect even half of Pink's box office collection. Section 375 was released on September 13, 2019. It has been observed that low budget issue-oriented films like Section 375 prove to be successful in the long run. Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15 is a good example of this. The film did not have a special opening, but ultimately, it was successful at the box office.
Section 375, featuring Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chaddha as lead actors, is a courtroom drama that spins around the touchy issue of section 375 of Indian Penal Code. The film will help you remember the '#MeToo' movement which took the industry by storm. A bunch of females in the business blamed their male associates for sexually assaulting them. The movie's story is about Rohan Khurana, played by Rahul Bhat, a Bollywood director who is blamed for assaulting his crew member Anjali Dangle, played by Meera Chopra.
