Section 375, apart from garnering a lot of appreciation online, was t able to perform well at box office. film’s collection was lesser than Akshaye’s last film Accidental Prime minister starring Anupam Kher. film, on its opening day, reportedly collected Rs. 1.45 crores which is very disappointing for a film that bagged ample of appreciation from audience. film was competing with two or big releases including Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichhore and Ayushmann Khuranna’s Dream Girl which could be reason for its low collection at box office.

According to reports, movie was on similar grounds with Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink but did t man to collect even half of Pink's box office collection. Section 375 was released on September 13, 2019. It has been observed that low budget issue-oriented films like Section 375 prove to be successful in long run.
