Section 375 is an upcoming courtroom drama directed by Ajay Bahl. The film is set to release on the 13^th of September 2019. The film is named after the section in the Indian penal code that deals with the crime of rape. Starring Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadha, and Meera Chopra, the trailer for the film was recently shared on social media by the cast and production house. The trailer received high praise from the youth of the county, especially from women.

The trailer for the film was revealed on the 13^th of August 2019 and sees a serious courtroom drama that deals with the topic of consent and holds no bars on discussing the matter. The story revolves around a famous Bollywood director who stands accused of rape by one of his female crew members. He, however, states that his colleague is using the rape laws unfairly to blackmail him.

Matter of law and justice

The film’s focus will be on the courtroom proceeding between two lawyers, one who is defending the accused and the other who is trying to get justice for the victim. One can expect to see a detailed and dramatised portrayal of how a case of rape is dealt with in the court of law. The film also asks the moral question of whether or not lawyers should defend their client if they know of their part in the crime. In the trailer, one of the lawyers can even be heard saying, “We are in the business of law, not in the business of justice.” This brings into light how lawyers are just debaters who use the law to help their client, irrespective of what is the truth.

Trailer response: 

The trailer for the movie was well-received by the viewers. The youth especially are vocal in their support for the film and the subject matter it portrays. Women have also praised the trailer and have appreciated the theme and message of the film. However, in a rather unfortunate situation, the Akshaye Khanna starrer was embroiled into a controversy as the makers of the film were called to Pune court after a petition was filed stating that the film portrays court proceeding inappropriately.
