Shah Rukh Khan is no longer IMDb's top star of Indian cinema. The actress who has dethroned him has been lauded for her performance in various films.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' may be Deepika Padukone's only release in 2018, but it has worked wonders for her career. From catapulting her to the position of the highest-paid actress in Bollywood to becoming her highest-grossing film by earning over Rs 500 crore worldwide, Deepika has a lot to thank the period drama for.

Now, the actress has become the top star of Indian cinema in 2018, according to leading global film database IMDb. She beat her 'Om Shanti Om' co-star Shah Rukh Khan to win the honour.

The stars on the list "consistently ranked highest on the IMDbPro weekly star meter chart throughout the year". "IMDb Pro star meter rankings are based on the actual page views of more than 250 million unique monthly visitors to IMDb," the description on the website read.

"Deepika Padukone's strong performance in this year's 'Padmaavat' pushed her into the top spot on the 2018 IMDb Top Stars of Indian Cinema list," said Neha Gureja, Head of International for IMDb, told PTI

Shah Rukh ranked second, followed by Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kubbra Sait, Irrfan Khan, Radhika Apte and Akshay Kumar.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is aggressively promoting 'Zero' and recently introduced a new filter on Snapchat which has caused a stir among his fans. 

Deepika Padukone who last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 venture 'Padmaavat' recently tied the knot with her co-star Ranveer Singh. The pair, who has appeared in several other films together finally tied the knot in a private ceremony at Lake Como, Italy on November 14 and 15, after 6 years of courtship. 

On the work front, she is all set to return to work as she is gearing up to star in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming film 'Chhapaak' which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi. The actress will be featured opposite 'Half Girlfriend' actor Vikrant Massey in the film.
