Shammi Kapoor: Remembering the popular Kapoors from the family tree

Shammi Kapoor was one of the oldest and most-loved actors from Bollywood. Today marks the 88th birth anniversary of the star. The actor is fondly remembered for his films even today.  He was one of the leading stars in the industry from the 1950s through the 1970s. He even made his Kollywood debut with a Tamil film, Amaran in 1992. More famously known for his hit films like Junglee, An Evening In Paris, Rajkumar, Kashmir Ki Kali and more, Shammi Kapoor has one the most deep-rooted connections in Bollywood.

Bollywood has always been known to be Kapoor dominated. From Prithviraj Kapoor to Raj Kapoor to Rishi Kapoor and so on, the Kapoors have always been a big name in the Bollywood industry. Prithviraj Kapoor, who was a pioneer of Indian theatre, who was heavily associated with IPTA and was one of the most famous actors of the silent era of Bollywood. What started with Prithviraj Kapoor continued with his children, Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor. All three of his kids went on to have very successful careers in Bollywood. The legacy is still continued with Prithvi Raj Kapoor's grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are still an integral part of Bollywood.

Shammi Kapoor was married to Geeta Bali from 1955-1965 and had two kids, Aditya Raj Kapoor and Kanchan Kapoor. Although his kids did enter Bollywood, they failed to gain a huge fanbase. The Kapoor film line was then continued by Raj Kapoor’s kids (Shammi's nephews). Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rajeev Kapoor, Ritu Kapoor, and Reema Kapoor were the big names of the next generation in the Kapoor family.

The current leading Kapoors in the Bollywood industry are Rishi Kapoor’s and Randhir Kapoor’s kids. Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan are both happily ruling the Bollywood industry. Ranbir is currently caught up with the shoot for his Brahmastra starring opposite Alia Bhatt while Kareena is currently recording for her radio show and is awaiting the release of her next, Good Newwz alongside Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani.
