Sikhs Not Scared Of Emergency, Indira Gandhi Assassins Not Heroes: Manoj Muntashir's Plea Amid Row
Emergency Movie Controversy: Lyricist Manoj Muntashir said that the events shown in the film are not fictional, everything including Indira Gandhi's killing.
The controversy surrounding Kangana Ranaut's Emergency is growing by the day. In fact, pending its CBFC certification, the movie has been postponed from its initial September 6 release. A video was recently shared by Kangana in which the film's lyricist addressed the row and appealed to the Sikh community to watch Emergency first and then decide whether or not it shows anything objectionable.
'Sikhs are not scared of Emergency, some people are'
Manoj said that the events shown in the film are true and not fictional. He said that it's a fact that the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards, who were sikhs. He also said that it is a fact that Gandhi was assassinated and did not die in any accident. He called out the politics that had gathered pace before Emergency release and urged the Sikh community to support the film, which he said is not just Kangana's but a result of the efforts of 500 crew members.
Sikh body demands unconditional apology from Kangana, CBFC
The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday issued notices to Kangana Ranaut, the Centre, censor board and others on a PIL challenging the screening of her upcoming Hindi film Emergency on the ground it contains scenes that violate fundamental rights of Sikhs.
The plea seeks direction to Kangana Ranaut and other respondents to tender an unconditional apology to the entire nation for making such an "irresponsible" film and pay exemplary damages to a Sikh charitable organization/institution.
