'Simran' writer Apurva Asrani calls 'Manikarnika', 'a flop film'; says Kangana Ranaut is an 'evil force'

'Simran' writer Apurva Asrani is amongst a few who have come out in support of director Krish, who claims to have directed nearly 70% of the film. After the film came out, he expressed his disappointment for being given second credit in direction after Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut.

'Simran' writer Apurva Asrani is amongst a few who have come out in support of director Krish, who claims to have directed nearly 70% of film. After film came out, he expressed his disappointment for being given second credit in direction after Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. 

Backing Krish, was 'Simran' writer Apurva Asrani, who has previously worked with Kangana. Taking to social media, he claimed that he was in a similar situation as Krish during making of 'Simran' when Kangana was credited as film’s co-writer against his wishes.

He has been blasting out at actress for past couple of days on Twitter. In his latest post on micro-blogging platform, Apurva called Kangana an ‘evil force’ and slammed media for giving Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi a ‘hit verdict.’ He also indirectly labelled film as ‘flop.’

His tweet re, “And your bogus hit verdict is giving evil force more power. film was me at 130cr & has to make atleast that to break even. But it has me under 60cr, has mixed WOM & declining footfalls. It's way short of even breaking even. This is what tre usually calls a flop.”

Manikarnika' was one of most anticipated films of 2019, and  period drama is based on life and struggles of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and her war against British East India Company, during Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut film also stars Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Demzongpa, Jisshu Sengupta and Ankita Lokhande, in pivotal roles. film that released on January 25, has been successful at Box Office.
