At a time when films from other industries like Kalki 2898 AD, Vettaiyan and Devara Part 1 were breaking records across languages, Bollywood movies were struggling to barely break even. Barring Stree 2 which released on Independence Day 2024, no recent release has been able to cross a significant mark at the box office, let alone break records. However, the release of Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 seem to be changing this.

Collectively, the films have done a combined business of a historic ₹79 crore on day 1 alone. Singham Again vs Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 clash is the answer to Bollywood's box office blues
Diwali has also broken the pattern of no festive returns for Bollywood movies. Previously, Alia Bhatt 's Jigra and Triptii Dimri's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video were released on Dussehra. But both films failed to impress the audience and closed at a lifetime business of less than ₹50 crore. Before that three big Bollywood movies were released on Independence Day - Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa.

However, only Stree 2 could make a lasting mark at the box office. Eid 2024 also went dry with Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan performing poorly and minting below-average business. Holi marked the release of Crew, which had a decent theatrical run, but ronded up moderate at the box office. Valentine's and Republic Day were no respite either. Overall, Diwali seems to have broken the spell of no festive returns for Bollywood films. All hopes are now on Christmas and New Year to see if the streak continues.
