Smita Patil died on December 13, 1986. At the age of 31. She faced an untimely death due to childbirth complications. During her career in Bollywood, she received two National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award. She was also the recipient of the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour in 1985. Over ten of her films were released after her demise.
