Jodi Salamat Rahe: Shatrughan Sinha Blesses Newlyweds Sonakshi-Zaheer Iqbal

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married in an intimate yet lavish wedding ceremony at Sonakshi's sprawling sea-facing, 26-floor apartment in Bandra West, Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by their families and friends, including Shatrughan-Poonam Sinha, Luv and Kussh-Taruna, Huma Qureshi, Saqib Saleem and others. After the two signed the papers, Shatrughan spoke to the media and expressed his happiness as his daughter got married to the man of her choice.

As reported by Pinkvilla, the veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha was accompanied by his wife Poonam Sinha when he spoke to the media. He said, "Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom. My daughter looks most happy with Zaheer. Unki jodi salamat rahe (May their union stay strong forever)."

Shatrughan wore a black kurta for his daughter's wedding paired with a dhoti and printed dupatta.

Inside Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's civil marriage

Sonakshi and Zaheer got married on June 23 in the afternoon. The couple had a civil marriage as per the Special Marriage Act of 1954. For the ceremony, Sonakshi upcycled her mother Poonam Sinha's wedding saree. She wore an embroidered ivory-golden saree accessorised with marching jewellery from her mother's collection. After the wedding, the actress shared a set of dreamy photos. In the pictures, Zaheer is seen kissing the hand of Sonakshi, while she is smiling from ear to ear. Another picture shows Shatrughan Sinha holding his daughter's hand, as she signs the wedding papers.

In the caption, she penned a sweet note sharing that it was on this day seven years back they started dating. "On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs... leading up to this moment ... with the blessings of both our families and both our gods." She signed off her note by writing, "We are now man and wife. Here's to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever."

Following their wedding, the newlyweds sent sweets to the paparazzi stationed outside with a heartfelt message that read, "Thank you for showering us with so much love, happiness and kindness on the most important day of our lives! Your support and wishes mean the world to us. Lots of love, Sonakshi and Zaheer."

Later that evening, they hosted a lavish yet intimate post-wedding reception at Bastian in Mumbai for their industry friends.
