Sonam Kapoor's The Zoya Factor was released across theatres in India on September 20, 2019. The movie was based on the novel of the same name, written by Anuja Chauhan. It did not do very well at the box office. However, Sonam Kapoor owns the film rights for another book by Anuja Chauhan, the Battle for Bittora which is why Sonam Kapoor is reportedly now all set to make and feature in the movie, based on the book Battle for Bittora.

Sonam Kapoor's role in the movie adaptation

Sonam Kapoor will be playing the lead role of Jinni Pande, the normal girl who turns politician. The male lead for the movie has not yet been decided. It is rumoured that Sonam's costar Dulquer Salmaan was initially going to be selected but the failure of The Zoya Factor might mean that he is no longer in consideration for the role. Rumours also state that Fawad Khan and Rajkummar Rao might be in the race for the role. However, reports suggest that actor Farhan Akhtar is also apparently being considered for the role

Battle for Bittora

The Battle for Bittora was Anuja Chauhan's second book after The Zoya Factor. It is another romantic tale but with a twist of being set in a political setting of a small town. The book tells the story of Jinni, an ordinary woman who works for an animation studio. She is satisfied with her life in the city of Mumbai but decides to return to her home town of Bittora after constant calls from her grandmother. Once she arrives at her home town, she is flung into politics and ends up competing in a Lok Sabha election. Things get even more complicated when she finds out that her main opposition is her childhood love. The novel is a classic rom-com, however, it is the political situation that the characters find themselves in that makes it stand out from other novels in the genre.
