Stree 2 BO Collection Day 8: Rajkummar-Shraddha Starrer Just Shy Of ₹300 Crore
Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has become the highest Hindi grossed of 2024, despite the downward trend in collection.

Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has been unstoppable at the box office in India. The movie opened at over ₹50 crore and went on to mint ₹100 crore in just three days. The movie benefited from the Raksha Bandhan holiday but since then has been witnessing a considerable decline in the collection. Despite the downward trend, the movie is steady at the box office and was expected to earn ₹300 crore in the opening week. However, it shied away by ₹9.15 crore.

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, the horror comedy earned ₹16 crore at the box office, according to the early estimates reported by Sacnilk. Calculating the opening week collection, the total stands at ₹290.85 crore, emerging as the biggest Hindi hit of 2024. It collection has added a feather to Rajkummar and Shraddha's hats. Stree 2 had an overall 27.62 per cent Hindi occupancy on Thursday with the maximum reported in Lucknow (49.75 per cent).
Seeing the trends and positive word-of-mouth, the collection is expected to increase on the second weekend taking the total to ₹400 crore.
Apart from Shraddha and Rajkummar, the movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in key roles.
Meet Sunil Kumar who played Sarkata in Stree 2
Sunil Kumar aka Sunny Jatt (as per his Instagram profile) played the role of Sarkata in Stree 2. Director Amar Kaushik, during an interview with Bollywood Hungama, shared that his casting team found Kumar and they finalised him based on his height and physique. The director added that they used body shots of Kumar, while the face of Sarkata was generated through CGI.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director was asked if it was a downer when the CBFC asked him to change the name, to this, he replied "Not really. The CBFC members pointed that aise jokes se bura lag sakta hai. We thought they had a valid point and hence, didn’t request them to let us retain the dialogue. Anyway, logon toh samaj mein aa gaya.”
