Rhea Chakraborty issues statement as SC allows CBI probe

Shortly after the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the CBI to investigate the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, based on a case filed by his family in Bihar, accused Rhea Chakraborty has issued a statement through her lawyer Satish Maneshinde. The statement says that Rhea will appear and face the investigation by the CBI as she has done earlier with the Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). It also says that the actor maintains that the truth will remain the same "whichever agency" investigated the case, in yet another sharp U-turn, given that her entire plea was for the Mumbai police only to handle the case.

Read the statement by Rhea's lawyer here:

The Hon’ble Supreme Court after examining the facts and circumstances of the case and the report of the Mumbai police has observed that it will be the desired justice as Rhea herself called for a CBI investigation. The Hon’ble Supreme Court also observed that due to the allegations made by the two states of political interference against each other, it would be in the interest of justice to hand over the case to the CBI.

Since the Court has Transferred the investigation to CBI invoking its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution of India, she will appear and face the investigation by the CBI as she has done earlier with the Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate. Rhea maintains that the Truth will remain the same whichever agency investigates the case.

"No Interviews, please. The matter is still under investigation by CBI," Advocate Satish Maneshinde also appealed.

Arguments in SC

Sushant's family's arguments

Arguing for Sushant Singh Rajput's family, senior advocate Vikas Singh submitted that Rhea Chakraborty who was in a relationship with Sushant 'distanced his family from him'. Singh claimed that till May Rhea had distanced Sushant's sisters from him but the actor and his father had visited their hometown together in May. After their visit, Sushant's father kept telling Rhea that he wanted to talk to his son but she did not respond. The senior advocate also went on to say that the Mumbai Police is not apprehending the real accused in the case and is heading in a 'completely different direction.' The family lawyer also claimed that evidence in the case is 'being destroyed' every day.

Rhea's arguments

Rhea Chakraborty's counsel Shyam Divan informed the Supreme court that the government of Maharashtra had filed an affidavit through the Investigating Officer. Rhea's counsel told the Court that the IO said that 56 persons have had their statements recorded and that the investigation is going on in a free and fair manner.  Rhea Chakraborty's counsel told the SC that there can't be executive actions that nullify the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction and that the case could be transferred to the CBI if the Court ordered so and not on the recommendation of the government of Bihar. He also added that Rhea was in love with Sushant and is in severe trauma after his death. Making a massive claim, the counsel stated that the late actor's father did not like Rhea.

Bihar govt's arguments

Bihar government's counsel Maninder Singh alleged that there is political pressure on the Mumbai police to not investigate the case and added that Mumbai police did not give the postmortem report to the Bihar's investigating officers. He stated that no “pending proceedings” can be claimed by Mumbai police after they have submitted the postmortem report.

Calling the investigation by Mumbai Police a facade, Singh said that if anyone is examined after the cause of death is revealed then an FIR ought to be registered, hence the FIR in Patna is the only FIR in the case. He asked how did Mumbai Police examined 56 people even without an FIR and after postmortem report was out.

Maharashtra govt's arguments

Appearing for the Maharashtra government, senior advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi contended that the Bihar government's interest in the case is derived from the impending state assembly elections due later this year. The senior advocate argued that the very basis of claiming jurisdiction by the Bihar government is not satisfied in this case. He also echoed the version Rhea's lawyer claiming that FIR by Sushant's father is an 'afterthought'.

Solicitor general's arguments

Appearing for the CBI, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta questioned the actions of the Mumbai Police. SG Tushar Mehta began his arguments in the Apex Court saying that the statements in Maharashtra affidavit are 'misleading'. SG Tushar Mehta also asked if the actions were to ‘protect someone’ while adding that the recording of 56 persons in the case were ‘irrelevant’ and that the probe did not stand the ‘test of law.’

When both were successfully trapped by their narcissistic psychopathic gaslighting partners, then both were physically hurt and abused. They both were sponged for their money and isolated from their family and loved ones. Both Jiah and Sushant were declared mentally disabled and depressed due to lack of work. When their control was slipping, their partners strangulated them and staged their homicidal death as suicide.

The criminal Narcissistic Criminal Partners of Jiah Khan and Sushant Singh were connected with powerful Bollywood mafia and politician. So they took shelter under their umbrella because they know only these politicians and Bollywood mafia icon have the power to crack their criminal behaviour. The political pressure on Police held them from bringing the Truth Out. They indulged their full time to destroy evidences and declared the homicidal deaths of both Jiah and Sushant as suicide. To support their fabricated stories, police seek help from Bollywood mafia & their syndicate media who anchor Mahesh Bhatt as mouth piece to endorse their concocted depression story.

To create doubt in public, these criminals and their cabal, attack victims' families with accusations, allegations, greed for money, irresponsible nurturing and scandalize by maligning their personal reputation. CBI need to intervene thoroughly and bring these perpetrators to justice by punishing them otherwise they will grow to be monstrous, then multiply their evil deeds to kill more innocent souls. These victims don't suffer by accident, they suffer because the politicians, police and Bollywood mafia cabal protect them, shelter them and make victims' families live in bondage of fear. Such crimes should end. "

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who appeared for the Bihar government in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, lambasted the Mumbai Police and the city's civic body for its "very unprofessional" conduct in the handling of the case, especially the move to 'quarantine' a senior Bihar cop who arrived there to probe a case on Rhea Chakraborty.

"I believe there is a very unsavoury angle to this case," Rohatgi told Republic TV after the Centre informed the Supreme Court that the Central Bureau of Investigation had accepted the Bihar government's request for a probe by the agency into the death of the actor.

SC to hear Rhea's plea for transfer of Sushant's death probe from Patna to Mumbai

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Wednesday the plea of Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of an FIR, accusing her of abetting the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, from Patna to Mumbai. Amid an unprecedented tug of war between the police of Bihar and Maharashtra over the right to probe the death of the actor who was found hanging at his Mumbai residence on June 14, the actress has sought transfer of FIR lodged in Patna on the ground of jurisdiction.

The hearing before a bench headed by Justice Hrisheksh Roy would be keenly watched as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday recommended CBI probe to the Centre in the sensational case at the request of Rajput's father, Krishna Kishore Singh. Maharashtra has been opposed to transferring the probe to CBI.

Rhea, who had once allegedly tweeted to the Union Home Minister seeking CBI probe into the matter, on Tuesday opposed the move through her lawyer Satish Maneshinde by saying that the decision has no legal sanctity. The actress, in her interim pleas filed with the pending transfer petition, said, it is becoming increasingly evident through the widespread media reports that the captioned FIR (at Patna) was successfully filed in Patna only due to intervention of the Chief Minister of Bihar and other local politicians.

This is apart from the details of the stunning bank transactions from Sushant’s account, accessed exclusively by the channel.

Two PILs filed in SC seeking CBI probe into Sushant's death

Two public interest litigations (PILs) have been filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking a CBI probe into the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput who was found dead at his residence in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.

The two PILs, one by BJP leader and lawyer Ajay Agrawal and other by a Mumbai-based law student Dwivendra Devtadeen Dubey, have been filed during the day when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken an important decision recommending the Centre the CBI inquiry in the sensational case after actor's father made the request for it.

Agrawal, who has been pursuing a politically sensitive Bofors scam case in the apex court, has filed the PIL seeking a direction to CBI to take up “the investigation in the death of Sushant Singh and the events which led to the untimely death” of the actor.
