Sushant Singh Rajput who was last seen in the recently released Chhichhore shared his journey in Bollywood through a social media post. The Kai Po Che debutant recalled his nine-film career with stills from each of his movies. Sushant talks about his nine-film career
Sushant Singh Rajput transitioned from a background dancer to a daily soap actor to making his debut in Kai Po Che. The Raabta actor has always been experimental with his roles. In an interview to a media publication, he recalled his experience of working as a background dancer for Shiamak Davar’s dance company. He was quoted saying that Shiamak advised him to try acting and hence Sushant took a turn and joined Barry John’s Acting Institute in Delhi. His arrival in Mumbai was a step towards joining a theatre group and then getting the chance to play the lead in a soap opera produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. He became a household name by playing his soap opera character for two years which then lead him to take a chance in Bollywood. Check out his post about his journey here.

His debut film Kai Po Che an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, was directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The debut turned out to be lucky for him and marked the start of his career in the Hindi film industry. Kai Po Che was followed by another completely different role for him in YRF’s Shudh Desi Romance. He further went on to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani in PK and also got a chance to play the lead role of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy in the self-titled film.

In the interview, he stated that he realised that after working with so many varied directors there is no one way to make a film. He went on to describe to every director’s approach towards film making by stating that Abhishek Kapoor’s direction is a mix of heavy preparation and improvisation. And with Rajkumar Hirani Sushant said that he was open to everything presented in front of him, which made him flourish as an artist. Sushant who was last seen in Chhichhore is all set to star in the Bollywood remake of The Fault in Our Stars titled as Dil Bechara. He will be also seen as the lead in Shekhar Kapur’s ambitious project Paani.
