Tanushree Dutta has backed singer Sona Mohapatra over the controversy and allegations about Anu Malik. Malik has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment. Tanushree gave an official statement regarding her opinion about the whole controversy, as reported by a leading news portal.

Tanushree Dutta speaks up
According to the news report, Tanushree sent out an official statement urging people to appreciate and celebrate strong women like Sona Mohapatra. She also called out the makers of Indian Idol and Neha Kakkar as they continue to work with Malik. Tanushree said that she wants to stand up, raise her hands up in the air, and applaud for Sona because she fought against Anu Malik. She was also happy about the fact that Anu Malik had returned as a judge on Indian Idol was also called out.

Tanushree revealed that she was shocked as to how Sony TV can let Anu Malik be a part of the judges' panel at the reality TV show. She talked about how so many educated, talented, highly accomplished, intelligent, and high-profile women have come forward and accused Anu Malik and yet he has been given respect and importance by the channel. Tanushree questioned whether TRPs were more important than human values. She also questioned whether people who misbehave should not be held accountable for their deeds.

Dutta questioned the mindset of the channel and the co-judges of Indian Idol, Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani. She took a dig at Neha and how she could agree to be a part of the show when her co-artists Sona, Neha Bhasin, and Alisha Chinoy had been through so much because of Anu Malik. She recalled the incident where Neha was forcibly kissed by a fan and then said that Neha got a taste of what it feels like to be harassed. She continued further and said that it was cringeworthy to see a woman treated in such a manner and it was not a good example for the new generation.

At the end of her strong-worded statement, she asked people to celebrate women like Sona who continue to fight against injustice despite all odds such as losing their jobs, peace of mind, and health. She also used the hashtag #replaceAnumallikwithSonaMohapatra.
