Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar starrer The Sky is Pink released on October 11, 2019 and has managed to create a buzz amongst the audience. Although the movie was pitted against the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War, the movie managed to receive a considerably positive reaction from the fans. However, film critics and bloggers have been sending out mixed reviews of the film. Here’s what few of the film critics have to say about the movie.
Critic's reviews
Anupama Chopra
Anupama Chopra reviewed the film and stated that the movie is heartfelt. However, she also mentioned in her film review that it doesn’t get raw or messy. In the video in which she reviewed the movie, she stated that though the movie deals with extreme grief and despair, it somehow still manages to feel too sanitised. While commenting on the performances, she said that Priyanka has done a good job. However, it is Farhan who stole the show as he has managed to portray the anguish of a father perfectly. She concluded by saying that the weight of the tragedy felt after seeing the pictures of the real Aisha and her family was missing throughout the movie.
Taran Adarsh
Movie critic and Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the movie was dull. Adding facts and figures to support his statements, he said that the audience did not accept the movie wholeheartedly. He said that the movie garnered attention on Saturday. However, it failed to do so on a Sunday, especially towards the evening. Talking about the box office collection, he concluded that the movie gathered a total of ₹ 10.70 crores on Friday and the weekends.
Anna MM Vetticad
Anna Vetticad, in her review, wrote that the movie makes you feel a spectrum of emotions. From funny, to sad to inspiring, the movie has all the emotions. She kept the movie review fairly neutral, mentioning both the positives and the negatives of the movie. She added that director Shonali Bose manages to maintain a fine balance of emotions till the very end of the movie. She concluded by saying that although the death of Aisha is quite visible throughout the movie, it still manages to celebrate the lives that are well lived.
Sumit Kadel
Film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel said that the movie is not for weak hearted people. He further added that he cried his eyes out multiple times during the movie. He commented that the movie is disturbing and heartbreaking, but also beautiful. He concluded that Zaria Wasim, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar have done an excellent job as an actor in the movie.
