A distinction is often made between a ‘festival film’ and a ‘commercial film’ and how its audiences, box office performances are different, and how both have separate platforms that can’t be merged. A lot of times the so-called ‘festival films’ don’t even have a proper commercial release. However, of late, the difference between the two kinds is thinning. And an example to this could be The Sky is Pink. If the response it has been receiving at international film festivals is anything to go by, the team of the Priyanka Chopra-Farhan Akhtar-starrer has a winner on their hands. The movie is not just being loved by the audiences at these festivals, but it has touched them so much that they have been brought up on their feet. These were the same scenes witnessed when the movie was screened at the BFI Film Festival in London. While the lead actors were missing, director Shonali Bose was present at the venue to experience the impact the film left on the audiences.

Standing ovation for The Sky is Pink
The movie was cheered with a standing ovation when it was screened at the Toronto Film Festival a few days back. And it was no different at the BFI London Film Festival as well. A video of the moment after the end credits rolled at the event has surfaced on social media. Director Shonali Bose, dressed in a saree, is seen standing on the stage, as the audiences stood and clapped for the movie. Without a doubt, she’d be overwhelmed, since it appeared that not even one person was stuck to their seats but conveyed their appreciation. It seems Priyanka Chopra’s much-awaited Bollywood comeback is going to much the wait.
